Ayurveda, the world’s oldest comprehensive health care system, provides a holistic approach to clinical assessment. Diagnosis is made using multiple noninvasive techniques to determine dosha imbalance.
80-class room hrs will provide students of ayurvedic clinical assessment program, the understanding of principles and practices of Ayurvedic medicine and its clinical application. 120 hrs of practicum (15 days) in India, at Pune Ayurvedic Medical School will help develop practical skills. See (5).
A total of 200 hrs is required for successful completion of the certification program.
Prerequisite: professional degree (MD/PhD/PsyD) and permission of the course director.
Seats are limited and on the basis of first come.

1. Introduction to Ayurveda (introductory course)

Students will be introduced to the history and philosophy of ayurveda, the panchabhutam (basic elements), tanmataras (subtle senses), physiology, connection of mind, body and spirit and its influence on health, the difference between wellness and imbalance. The biological humors ((the role of three doshas and gunas in health and disease), introduction to ayurvedic medicine & medical ethics.
2. Ayurvedic Anatomy (an advanced course)
Date: May 5-7 Days: Friday-Sunday Time: same as above.
The course will introduce the theories of prakriti/Vikriti analysis, dhatus, malas, nadis and nervous system, nervous system and biological humors. Principles of perceptions, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, agni and srotas,
3. Ayurvedic physiology and Chikitsa
Date: May 20-22 Days: Friday-Sunday Time: same as above.
The course will provide an understanding of overview of marma points (tissue/pressure points), an understanding of neuro-immune system. Mind and mental faculty, Bhoot vidya (psychology/psychiatry). Diet and Nutrition.
4. Ayurvedic Ras Shastra (Ayurvedic Pharmacy)& Herbology
June 2-4 Days: Friday-Sunday Time: Same as above
Concepts of Ayurvedic pharmacology, characterization of herbs and therapeutic use of ayurvedic Herbs.
Rasayanas (Rejuvination & Immunotherapeutics) and Vajikaran (Virilification and infertility).
5. Clinical Assessment Practicum: two-weeks of hands-on training at the Poona Ayurvedic Medical School in India, in collaboration with the International Society for Ayurveda and Health (ISAH) 120hrs.
Students will learn, (1). Basic principles of Ayurvedic clinic (art of history taking, clinical examinations) in out-patient clinic (2) Assessment of constitution, diagnosis and diet (3) Ayurvedic therapeutics and introduction to ayurvedic herbal formulation. (4) An understanding of Ayurvedic interventions like panchakarma, Shirodhara, swedhana, snehana (oleation) and massage therapy.
